Ptarmigan Arts is accepting applications from community members who would like to join our Board. We are seeking candidates who are passionate about community arts and are in tune withour mission, values, purpose and our desire to be inclusive, diverse and equitable in all our endeavours. We want our Board to reflect the diversity of our community and so encourage people of all ages (18+) and backgrounds to consider bringing your energy, perspective and unique skills to our vibrant arts organisation.
We hold monthly board meetings, with board subcommittees meeting as needed. Terms are 3 years in length. Our AGM is scheduled for February 4, 2025, and candidates must be members of Ptarmigan Arts in good standing for at least 60 days prior.

The Ptarmigan Arts Board
The role and purpose of the Board of Directors of the Ptarmigan Arts Society is to provide good governance and leadership as required by the Province of British Columbia Society Act, and as outlined in the Bylaws and Governance Policies of the Ptarmigan Arts Society.
The Bylaws of Ptarmigan state the Board must have no less than 3 and no more than 9 Directors. The length of a Director’s term is three years.
Responsibilities of Directors:
Support the board’s mission, vision, values and strategic plan
Support Ptarmigan Arts Society’s public image and reputation
Support and promote Ptarmigan Arts Society programs and mission
Provide support to other directors and executive director
Maintain legal compliance and integrity of the organization
Oversee financial management and determine how to handle resources
Help resolve conflict and address concerns expressed by members, other directors and the executive director
Attend board meetings as scheduled and participate in discussion and decisions in a positive and proactive manner, keeping apprised of reports and updates on organizational progress. Prepare for a meeting by reading agenda, minutes, reports and follow-up with assigned action items. A Board director will notify the Board President if they cannot attend a meeting. If a prolonged absence is expected they may be granted a leave from the Board by the President.
